BaskRate Ltd (“BaskRate”, “we”, “us”) is a company registered in England and Wales, company number 17081373. Registered office: 8 Brierdene View, NE26 3HR.
We run advertising and lead-handling systems for UK trades businesses. This policy explains what personal data we handle, why, and what you can do about it.
This matters, because your rights differ depending on which applies:
If you enquire through one of our clients’ adverts or forms: your name, phone number, email address, postcode, and the answers you give about the work you want — typically the type of job, its urgency, whether you own the property, and any photos you choose to upload. We also record technical delivery data: which advert you came from, timestamps, and the identifiers the advertising platform supplies.
If you are a client or prospective client: your name, business name, contact details, and the commercial correspondence between us.
If you visit this website: standard server and analytics data.
We do not ask for or knowingly collect special category data, financial account details, or data about children.
Some of our clients use automated SMS and, in some cases, an automated voice assistant to make first contact after an enquiry. You will always be told who is calling and on whose behalf. You can opt out at any time — reply STOP to a text, or say so on a call — and we will stop. No decision with a legal or similarly significant effect is made about you by automated means alone.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not share enquiries between clients. Your enquiry goes to the one tradesperson you contacted.
We use these processors to deliver the service:
Some of these are based outside the UK. Where data is transferred internationally we rely on UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
Enquiry data is held for as long as the tradesperson needs it to quote and complete the work, and then for up to 24 months, after which it is deleted or anonymised. Where we act as processor, the client’s own retention decision takes precedence and we will delete on their instruction. Business correspondence and records we must keep for tax or legal reasons are held for six years.
You have the right to be informed, and to request access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where we rely on consent you can withdraw it at any time without affecting processing already carried out.
To exercise any of these, email info@baskrate.co.uk. We will respond within one month. If we are acting as processor for one of our clients we will tell you who the controller is and pass the request on.
You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
You can ask us to delete the personal data we hold about you at any time. Email info@baskrate.co.uk with the subject line “Data deletion request”, giving your full name and the phone number or email address you used when you enquired — that is how your record is identified in our systems. You do not need to give a reason, and there is no charge.
We will confirm in writing what has been deleted within 30 days of receiving your request.
If you enquired through one of our clients’ adverts, the tradesperson you contacted is the controller of that data, not us. We will pass your request to them as controller, tell you who they are so you can deal with them directly if you prefer, and delete the data from the systems we operate on their behalf.
We may have to keep a limited amount of data where the law requires it, such as accounting records or a minimal suppression record so we do not re-add you to a list you have asked to leave. Where that applies we will tell you exactly what was kept and why.
